Abstract

The present work seeks to discuss the relation between government evaluation and economic evaluation in supporting impeachment processes in Brazil and Peru. The selected cases are those of Pedro Castillo and Dina Boluarte in Peru and Dilma Rousseff and Michel Temer in Brazil. The central question of the work is whether there is a relationship between economic and government evaluation and whether, separately, they are determining factors for support for impeachment processes in two selected cases? To do this, we used data from the Latinobar.metro between 2016 and 2023, seeking, in addition to using descriptive statistics, also correlation and regression models, to verify the influence of these variations on each other and how explanatory they are of the cases. The results showed that negative economic and government evaluations are conditions for the occurrence of impeachment in both countries, but they are not sufficient to explain it.
