Abstract
Muitas das análises histórico-políticas sobre os Açores fixam-se no seu valor do ponto de vista geoestratégico e na sua importância militar no espaço do Atlântico Norte durante as guerras mundiais do século XX. Neste tempo em que uma nova guerra assola a Europa e se está a redesenhar uma outra ordem mundial, este artigo visa contribuir para uma análise geopolítica dos Açores à luz das inovações da ciência atual, nomeadamente as leituras que resultam das pontes prováveis entre a complexidade, as correntes pós-modernistas e a geopolítica crítica, que permitem considerar outras centralidades para o arquipélago dos Açores.
